Kawartha becomes the third OGS branch to establish a project to identify the original settler’s in our area. Each branch member is asked to fill out a sheet of information on each of their ancestral families who first settled in our area (Haliburton, Peterborough, Northumberland Counties and The City of Kawartha Lakes – formerly Victoria County). This settler could be as recent as the branch member or as early as one of the first settler’s in the region. Information will also be gathered from other sources such as the Robinson settlement and Township histories. As the settler’s sheets are indexed the names are added to The Ontario Name Index (TONI) so be sure to search it for your family names.
